A large Chinese community lives in Bangkok's China town. The chinese merchants settled in Bangkok in 1780 and the area is famous for amazing markets and the many gold shops.

This gold shop (one of the many in this area) is on New road one of the first paved roads in Charoen Krung or 'Prosperous city'. The main attraction here is Wat traimit with its solid gold Buddha.

This Picture gives an idea of the gold shops with a lot of local interest, as it is not one of the main tourist areas
