Description:
The low emission zone starts at the border of greater London and
effects older diesel-engined lorries, buses, coaches and vans. Also
minibuses with over eight seats below 5 tonnes. The zone applies to all
vehicles, commercial or private use.
Cars, motorbikes, and vans
under 1.205 tonnes unladen weight are excluded. On main roads the
scheme is enforced by cameras. When a vehicle
does not comply with the emission Euro standard for particular matter
and is not exempt there is a charge of £200 a day. Large vans
horseboxes and minibuses are charged £100 a day.
