The most snow in London for 18 years was registered on the 2nd of February 2009. Most of the day it kept snowing, in some areas as much as 20cm.
Because snow like this is rare in London, the city is not equipped to clear the amount of snow sufficiently for busses and underground trains to keep in service.
Commuters cannot get into the city schools close because of lack of teachers and the city grinds to a halt. But it is great for pictures!
