The snowfall of February 2009 in London broke the 18 year old record for snow in London. Most of the day it kept snowing, in some areas as much as 20cm which is in itself pretty rare in London.
Because it is so rare the city is not equipped to clear this amount of snow sufficiently for buses and underground trains to keep in service. Commuters have to cope with long delays to get into the city, schools close because of lack of teachers and the city grinds to a halt. But for pictures it is great!
